Similar terms can describe different airflow concepts
Air curtain and air barrier are often used as broad terms. In practice, systems differ in airflow direction, outlet arrangement, reach and control. A personnel-door air curtain and an installation for a several-metre-high industrial door therefore require different engineering checks.
The AirCurtain24 system uses a fan unit above the door with outlet columns on both sides. Other air-curtain configurations use different layouts. Suitability depends on the opening, wind exposure, building pressure, operating pattern and intended result.

What is the difference between an air curtain and an air barrier?
The terms are used in different ways across the market. Systems may direct air from above or from side outlets. The suitable configuration depends on door size, wind, building pressure, use and the intended result.
Is a high-speed door better than an industrial air curtain?
They solve different parts of the problem. A high-speed door provides physical closure; an air curtain or air barrier can limit air exchange while the opening is in use. In some operations, combining both is appropriate.
Can an air barrier be retrofitted to an existing door?
Many existing industrial doors can be assessed for retrofit. Mounting space, structure, door movement, obstructions, controls and electrical supply need to be checked.
