On 12 October 2026, the NRW Environment Ministry presented findings from its environmental economy report and an accompanying Prognos study. They forecast additional demand for more than 180,000 workers in the environmental economy by 2035. This covers the entire sector, not just the energy transition, and is a forecast of demand rather than a guarantee of jobs created. Energy efficiency is among the development areas highlighted.
The forecast concerns NRW in Germany. It is not an employment forecast for the Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg. Our practical perspective for Benelux businesses is to examine where avoidable energy losses occur in their own operations.
Keep heating and cooling where they are needed
Open loading and production doors allow air to move between outdoor and indoor areas or adjacent temperature zones. Individually engineered industrial air barriers can reduce this exchange while keeping the passage clear for goods and vehicles. Heated production halls, cold stores and frozen-storage facilities each require their own assessment.
